Shershaah Movie Review: It’s the time of Independence Day & we have two patriotic films that has released on Independence Day weekend Shershaah & Bhuj – The Pride Of India.  Due to the lockdown & theatres not working in full capacity many big films are releasing on the OTT  platform.

Shershaah is the story of brave Indian soldier Vikram Batra of the 1999 Indo-Pak war. The film was previously scheduled to release in theatres but the makers decided to release it on the OTT platform so that the story of the brave son of India reaches all. The film stars Sidharth Malhotra & Kiara Advani in lead roles.

So does the film lives up to the expectations? Let’s find out.

Shershaah Movie Review: Story

The story of the film starts with Vikram Batra (Played by Sidharth Malhotra) who lives with his parents in the Palampur village of Himachal Pradesh. From his childhood, Vikram was interested to join the Indian Army. In his college, he met his love interest Dimple (played by Kiara Advani). Vikram before joining the Indian Army worked in the merchant navy as it paid him well.

One day when Vikram was dropping Dimple at her home they were caught by Dimple’s father. He opposes Dimple’s decision to marry Vikram as they were of a different caste. Vikram’s friend Sunny (played by Sahil Vaid) asks him not to give up on his dreams to join the Indian army. Vikram then enrolled himself in an army institute & cleared the exam with good numbers. He tells about it to Dimple who asks him not to change his plans for their future.

Vikram in the year 1998 was first posted in 13th Jammu and Kashmir Rifles at Sopore. Vikram was then promoted to the rank of Lieutenant after a year. Vikram’s first big achievement as a soldier was when he first captures a dreaded terrorist, Attaullah (played by David Browne), who’s a part of the gang of an evil militant, Haider (played by Mir Sarwar).

After that Haider attacks the 13th Jammu and Kashmir Rifles while they were moving as an act of revenge for capturing Attaullah. Then Vikram leads an important & risky operation to eliminate Haider. Haider warns Vikram about their big plan before dying. What happens next makes the story of the film.

Shershaah Movie Review: Screenplay

Sandeep Shrivastava’s screenplay is very effective and he has carried out all the scenes with ease. He has shown all the achievements of Captain Batra in the film. The dialogues of the film are decent & have good timing. The film has been written in a very beautiful way and keeps you connected.

Shershaah Movie Review: Direction

Vishnu Vardhan has done an exceptional job as the director. He doesn’t show any unwanted scenes & keeps the things that are required to be showed. Dimple’s father plays an important character & the director has nourished his character very well. He has shot the action & war scenes in a simple & effective manner. Overall Vishnu has done a very good job & shot the scenes in a beautiful manner all the way.

Shershaah Movie Review: Music

The music of the film is decent but the songs of the film are well placed. Raata Lambiya has been loved by the audience in the voice of Jubin Nautiyal & composed by Tanishk Bagchi. Mann Bhareya by B Praak is being played in the background on multiple occasions. John Stewart Eduri’s background score is theatrical and is very impressive.

Shershaah Movie Review: Performance

Sidharth Malhotra has done an exceptional job as Captain Vikram Batra. In every scene, he has handled the character perfectly & delivers the best performance of his career. This character might be a game-changer for him. Kiara Advani has a limited role in the film but she has played her part well.

Kiara Advani is getting better with every film as an actor. Shiv Panditt looks dashing and is dependable. Anil Charanjeett is fair while Raj Arjun makes his presence felt. Abhiroy Singh leaves a mark and suits the part. All the other actors have played their part well.

Shershaah Movie Review: Final Verdict

Overall Shershaah is a very beautiful war film made in Bollywood in recent times. The film has shown our Kargil war hero Captain Batra in an exceptional manner which will fill you with pride. The film will make you smile, patriotic & also moist your eyes at some point.

It is a must-watch film for your Independence Day weekend. This performance of Sidharth Malhotra will be remembered for a long long time.
