Khandaani Shafakhana Movie Review
Khandaani Shafakhana belongs to Sonakshi Sinha as the girl goes out and gives one of the finest performance of her career trying to lift the film but whether she succeeds or not let’s find it in this Khandaani Shafakhana Movie Review.
Khandaani Shafakhana: Plot
Starring Sonakshi Sinha, Badshah, Varun Sharma, Annu Kapoor, Priyansh Jora, Rajiv Gupta and Kulbushan Kharbanda in lead roles Khandaani Shafakhana is directed by Shilpi Dasgupta and is about a Sex Clinic in Hoshiarpur, Punjab.
This clinic belongs to uncle of Baby Bedi (Sonakshi Sinha) played by Kulbushan Kharbanda. He treats patients with sexual disorders and his male clientele is very comfortable discussing their issues with him.
Now Baby Bedi has financial troubles at her families end and receives the clinic from her uncle in his will. She knows it won’t be easy to run this clinic for a girl but her obligations make way for this decision and she decides to take over the clinic without letting her mother know about it. The reason that she cannot sell the clinic unless she operates it for 6 months as per will of her uncle.
The plot then takes a social message form where Baby Bedi fights against the fact that people do not talk about sex openly.
Khandaani Shafakhana Movie Review: Script and Screenplay Analysis
The soul of the movie is at the right place but what goes wrong terribly is the execution. The Plot of the movie has hit written all over it but Gautam Mehra fails to deliver the right story for this plot. You will find forced drama and boring scenes too often and you will be forced to look into your mobiles to do something better.
It’s not all bland though there are scenes which will make you laugh and keep you excited like a courtroom drama. Brilliance is visible but it does not carry through. In fact the film fails to entertain you through out.
The Screenplay is by far the weakest part of the entire film. What could have been a laugh riot ends up being a boring Mohalla Tale. The screenplay is nothing short of Lazy and Pathetic.
Khandaani Shafakhana Movie Review: Technical Work
The cinematography is by Rishi Punjabi and full marks foes to him as he does a fantastic job in bringing out the tempting Punjab alive on screen. The Art direction is good as the frames are lively and colorful.
The Clinic Setting is just about perfect and gives you the warm and cozy feeling in the scenes filmed inside that premise.
Khandaani Shafakhana Movie Review: Music
Only one word can define the whole Music of the film. Force fitted and this happens when you don’t have a strong script and the producer gets scared and takes random call to make the final product even worse.
Khandaani Shafakhana Movie Review: Performances
The show belongs to Sonakshi Sinha as she shows confidence and brilliance in parts although her character is limited by the script and the screenplay. Sonakshi stands out amidst actors like Annu Kapoor and Varun Sharma.
When you see Annu Kapoor performing on screen you don’t find the same person. Infact it felt like that he received the scripts in parts and lost connection to the entire plot. Annu Kapoor is a Veteran and this is the first time you will notice him out of sync of the entire story. The blame for this has to go to the production unit as the efforts were not in sync.
Why take Varun Sharma when the script has no place for him ? This guy was their best bet to provide comic relief and he has been completely sidelines like a side actor.
Priyansh Jora Who Debuts with this movie gives a great performance but the question to be asked is, whether his character was even needed in the film. The answer will be a Big No.
Khandaani Shafakhana Movie Review: Direction
Shilpi Dasgupta knew somewhere what she wanted to make. She wanted to make a Vicky Donor or a Shubh Mangal Savdhan and got almost all ingredients right but the script, Screenplay and her sense of situations.
What was suppose to be treated as a comedy with a great screenplay turns out to be a lame Drama.
Khandaani Shafakhana Movie Review:
What could have been a rib ticking comedy with a tight screen play turns out to be a cold affair. Do not think of spending money on this one as you will come out thinking that your full money has gone to waste.
