Growth Of Indian Film Industry Over the Last Decade: The Decade has ended but the film releases in 2019 still continue to take in Moolah at the box office. While we write this article on 5th January 2020 with Data till the night of 4th January 2020. Consider this a Preliminary report as we will once again update this report once the final figures for all the films like Good Newwz, Dabangg 3, Mardaani 2, etc set in.

In Last decade we witnessed a release of 1776 movies over a period of 522 weeks which means an average of 3.4 movies releasing each week.

We can clearly see More and more producers and corporate houses are joining the Film Making Bandwagon and after 2015 more and more Films are releasing each Friday.

We can clearly see from point no 1.1 that more and more films are releasing each year, The table 1.2 represents the competition getting fiercer each Friday as more and more films eye for getting the audience to theatres, resulting in a higher ratio of unsuccessful films, which also means that any film with a weaker entertainment has lesser chances to succeed at the box office as in has before 2015.

This also means that the Audience in India is winning this round as they are not only getting more and more options to choose from but also can choose which films to watch and which to skip.

 

2. Box Office Earning of Bollywood From 2010-2019

There has been substantial growth in Bollywood Nett Collections, probably one of the best industries in terms of CAGR growth. With more multiplexes opening, ticket rates going high and more and more audiences getting added due to the country’s demographic is expanding the Indian Film Industry at a rapid pace.

We can clearly see that year 2012 saw a rise in Bollywood Nett Collections by a Huge 45.68% and the second-best year in terms of growth was 2019 when Bollywood Nett earnings grew by 25.53% and crossed Landmark Figure of Rs. 5000 Crores and Rs. 5500 Crores in a single year. With Films Like Good Newwz, Dabangg 3 and Mardaani 2 still running from the past year, they will add up to these growth figures.

We can clearly see from point 2.2 that now each Friday of the week accounts for at least 100 Crores of Business or in other terms. Bollywood Earns more than 100 crores each week on average as compared to that of 29.04 Crores in 2010. The Business has grown around 4 times in this period.

The above data gives a view on profitability in each film. Each Movie Released in 2010 earned around 11 crores on an average Which kept on increasing till 2013 But it kept on declining each year till 2018 and finally took a major jump in 2019.
