So has David Dhawan been able to recreate the magic with Varun Dhawan & Sara Ali Khan? Let us find out.

Coolie No 1 Movie Review: Story

Raj falls in love with Sara (Played by Sara Ali Khan) who is the daughter of a millionaire Jeffery Rozario (Played by Paresh Rawal). Jeffery wishes that her daughter Sara should marry a millionaire.

So Jai Kishen helped Raj in marrying Sara. But soon the reality of Raj that he is a Coolie. The film has an added dose of comedy with Rajpal Yadav, Johny Lever in important roles. What happens next makes the plot of the film.

Coolie No 1 Movie Review: Screenplay

The film is an updated version of Coolie No 1 which released 25 years back. The screenplay of the film has to match the recent time trend. Coolie No 1 has been perfectly shot and David Dhawan has maintained well with this film. The song has been perfectly shot matching the original version too. The one-liners will keep a smile on your face throughout the film. Rumi Jaffrey has maintained a decent role in the screenplay along with David Dhawan

Coolie No 1 Movie Review: Direction

David Dhawan has created a zone for himself i.e his films are mass entertainers. The audience has high expectations for him. The director has done well in adapting the new version and has added fresh punches to match the current time. The scenes and songs of the films are very well shot. A bit of more work on writing from Rumi Jaffrey would have added more boost to the film.

Coolie No 1 2020 is a vintage David Dhawan style film with added punches.

Coolie No 1 Movie Review: Music

Coolie No 1 has recreated chartbusters Like Husn Hai Suhana & Tujhe Mirchi Lagi Toh which are timeless melodies. The soundtrack of the film will keep you connected to the film. The decision to retain the original songs has worked well and created a lot of buzz. Other songs of the film have also been well shot adding an extra impact in the film.

Coolie No 1 Movie Review: Performances

Varun Dhawan would be under pressure on filling up the shoes of Govinda in the film. The actor has done very well and carries the entire film on his shoulder. His chemistry with Paresh Rawal has been quite well in the film. The comic timing of both Varun & Paresh has been a joy to watch.

Paresh Rawal has also done a very good job in his role. Sara Ali Khan has limited screen presence and did a decent job with her character. Other supporting actors i.e Javed Jaffrey, Johny Lever, Sahil Vaid, Rajpal Yadav played their part well.

Coolie No 1 Movie Review: Final Verdict

The film has been shot in a very good manner. It takes us 25 years back when the original film was released with its song. But with better writing, the film would have been much better. All the actors have played their part well. Director David Dhawan also looked in his zone directing Varun in his 3rd film after Main Tera Hero & Judwaa 2.

It is the 45th film of David Dhawan’s career and this film will take you on a laughter ride. David understands his choice of characters well and this could be seen in the film. Enjoy the entertainment ride this Christmas weekend with your family.

If the film would have released in theatres it would have been a good opening in normal times. But during these tough COVID-19 times the audience is not yet coming in good numbers. And also the theatres are only running with 50% capacity.
