Chhapaak Movie Review: The movie is inspired by the life of a normal girl Laxmi Agarwal whose world got changed when she was acid attacked. Instead of backing up she decided to fight for justice & stand up against this horrifying activity and became a strong symbol for many of the acid attack survivors.

Chhapaak Movie Review: Story

The film has Deepika Padukone playing the main character Malti, who was acid attacked on a sunny day at the street of Delhi by a family friend named Bashir Khan often called Babbu and his group. The film starts on a note where Malti is trying to move on from the horrifying attack and looking for a job. She has to go through a no of complicated surgeries. With an aspiration of becoming a singer, her dream was thrashed after the attack. Her life was struck in the middle of the surgeries, her work with an NGO who worked for the betterment of acid victims & the court cases. The film is far from a melodrama and showcases the story of the bravery of a woman who stands against all the odds with a smile on her face & an indomitable spirit for her justice.

Her journey was a hard one due to her brother’s illness & the unfortunate death of her father her family wasn’t able to support. It was Malti’s lawyer Archana (Madhurjeet Sarghi) who stood with her all the way in her journey. From Malti’s PIL to the banning of the sale of acids and to take strict action against this type of crime her team of lawyers took on the system in every legal way. Malti’s other support system was Amol (Vikrant Massey) who was her head at the NGO.

Chhapaak Movie Review: Performances

Deepika Padukone is the heart of the film delivering an impressive & brilliant performance. There are moments in the film you will get connected towards her act & feel her pain like for the first time when she saw her attacked face in the mirror. And also with her excitement when she wants to live her life to the fullest.  The character of Malti played by Deepika Padukone is a winner all the way. And also both Vikrant Massey & Madhurjeet Sarghi have portrayed their character with all their effort & fit in their characters.

Chhapaak Movie Review: Direction

Meghna Gulzar has been someone whose previous directorial Talvar & Raazi has delivered a bold message & also produced award-winning performances Chhapaak does the same. She has so beautifully showcased the entire journey of Malti and her struggle that this film will leave a strong impact on the audiences.

Chhapaak Movie Review: Music

The music of Chhapaak is a typical one with Chapaak Title Track (by Arijit Singh) delivers a message & Nok Jhok showcases the love affair between Malti & Amol. Shankar Ehsaan Loy has also provided a powerful background score according to the narration of the film.

Chhapaak Movie Review: Final Verdict

Chhapaak is a film that showcases a total life journey of an acid attack survivor the film delivers different emotions at times and leaves a strong impression on the audiences. The movie is a brave attempt to showcase a horrifying story of crime against women and their journey to justice. This one is the story you can’t afford to miss.
